Our Background
PLIGHT, Inc. was founded in 1988 by community members dedicated to addressing important challenges faced by young people in their community. The organization's mission was to provide essential support and guidance to over 200 young individuals in grades 4-12 through workshops focusing on a variety of topics, including violence prevention, self-esteem, and substance abuse. Over the years, PLIGHT has received grants and support from state agencies, private donors, and local businesses, allowing them to expand their efforts in impactful ways. The organization has made significant strides in fostering community leadership and providing educational opportunities while maintaining a strong presence through monthly workshops and after-school programs.
